The AI community is currently witnessing the arrival of four new models, each presenting features competitive with GPT-4. Gemini 1.5 distinguishes itself with a significant increase in memory capacity and the ability to process video content.

Mistral Large introduces open licensing, making it more accessible across various devices. Claude 3 Opus is noted for its superior performance, particularly in coding tasks. Inflection-2.5 is also noteworthy, with performance benchmarks that compare favorably to GPT-4, attracting attention from industry experts.

Gemini 1.5

• Huge Memory: Gemini 1.5 can remember and use a lot of information at once - much more than older models or its rivals. This means it can handle big tasks, like understanding entire books, long videos, or big projects, all in one go.

• Fast and Smart: It uses a special design that makes it really quick at learning new things without losing quality. It breaks the work down into smaller parts, using the best part for each job.

• Works with Many Formats: Gemini 1.5 isn't just about text; it can work with pictures, sounds, and videos too, making it useful for all sorts of tasks.

Mistral Large

• Smart in Many Languages: Mistral Large is great at thinking through problems and speaks several languages (English, French, German, Spanish, and Italian). It's especially good for math and programming.

• More Affordable: It costs less than another popular model, GPT-4 Turbo, but still performs really well, making it a good choice for those looking to save money.

• Openly licensed: Meaning you can run it on your personal devices for free. You could run it on your computer, your iphone or a virtual server if you want it to run 24/7. The Mistral 7B model runs on an Iphone.

Claude 3 Opus

• Very Accurate: Claude 3 Opus is much better at finding the right information and knows when it's not sure about something. It's twice as accurate as its older versions.

• Flexible and Clever: It can handle lots of different questions and situations very well, understanding things almost like a human does. It's good at many topics, including expert subjects, basic math, and talking in different languages, and especially good at coding.

Inflection-2.5

• As Good as GPT-4 but More Efficient: Inflection-2.5 can do what GPT-4 does in terms of math and programming, but it doesn't need as much power to learn, making it more efficient.

• Friendly and Personal: It aims to make your experience personal and friendly, getting you the latest information in a way that feels warm and customized to your needs.

Overall, these models are making big steps forward, making AI better at understanding, working efficiently, and interacting with us in smarter ways.

Why Should You Care?

This is the first time competitors come close to OpenAI’s models, and specificly the ChatGPT-4 model, which marks the beginning of an exciting future for AI.

Now we’re at the point that we have actual competition, and models that are better than ChatGPT at different tasks. The AI Reverie team, ourselves, much prefer to use gemeni to process video, Perplexity for real-time search and research, and Claude 3 Opus for coding.

Before we only had one great LLM-model, but now we can pick and choose.
