AI MUSIC
🎵 Former Google DeepMind Researchers Launch Udio, a Groundbreaking AI Music Creation App

Udio empowers anyone to generate original songs in seconds, backed by tech luminaries and music stars

Udio.com

The Reverie

Udio, a startup founded by former Google DeepMind researchers, has publicly launched its AI-powered app that enables users to easily create original music.

By simply describing a genre, lyrics, and artist inspiration, Udio can generate a fully mastered track in under 40 seconds. The app aims to democratize music creation for everyone from casual users to aspiring and professional musicians.

The Details

  • Udio has raised $10 million in a seed funding round led by a16z, with participation from angel investors including will.i.am, Common, Tay Keith, and Instagram co-founder Mike Krieger

  • The app offers a "remix" feature that allows users to further edit and iterate on their AI-generated tracks using text descriptors

  • Udio has worked closely with artists and producers to ensure the app benefits both artists and the music industry, while providing artists financial control over their voice likeness

Why Should You Care?

The launch of Udio represents a major advancement in AI music generation. Over the past year, we've seen rapid progress from the likes of Google's MusicLM and Stability AI's Stable Audio, and of course Suno. But Udio claims to set a new bar for the ease of use, voice quality, and musicality of AI-generated songs.

By making music creation accessible to all and incorporating feedback from top artists, Udio could transform how music is made and open up new creative possibilities. However, the app also raises important questions around copyright and compensation for artists if it was trained on their work. Udio's launch is a significant milestone in the creative AI arms race that is poised to reshape the music industry. Source

👀 Meta Unveils Next-Gen AI Accelerator: Powering the Future of AI

MTIA v2 doubles compute and memory, enables advanced AI applications

META ai chips

The Reverie

Meta has introduced the next generation of its Meta Training and Inference Accelerator (MTIA), a custom AI chip designed to efficiently serve the company's unique AI workloads.

This new version, MTIA v2, more than doubles the compute and memory bandwidth of its predecessor while maintaining a close tie-in to Meta's specific needs, particularly in the areas of ranking and recommendation models.

The Details

  • MTIA v2 is part of Meta's broader full-stack development program for custom, domain-specific silicon that addresses their unique workloads and systems

  • The chip's architecture focuses on providing the right balance of compute, memory bandwidth, and memory capacity for serving ranking and recommendation models

  • Meta has several programs underway aimed at expanding the scope of MTIA, including support for generative AI (GenAI) workloads

Why Should You Care?

Meta's next-generation MTIA represents a significant step forward in the development of AI infrastructure. As AI models become increasingly sophisticated and compute-intensive, custom accelerators like MTIA v2 will play a crucial role in enabling advanced AI applications across various domains, from recommendation systems to GenAI.
